Emma 10, is an exceptionally bright young girl attending a leading independent school at which she thrives. At the age of 5, Emma was diagnosed with a form of Ataxia which increasingly affects her co-ordination and her gross and fine motor skills. . Right at the heart of a loving family, Emma is surrounded by an extremely supportive family; Mum, Dad, Jim 12, Dean 8 and Edward 4. To say this is a busy household running at 100 miles per minute is an understatement and we are looking for someone just as energetic, passionate and articulate – someone who is not afraid to muck in and just get on with it.

Cheeky, thrill seeking, with a great sense of humour are just a few words to describe this little lady. We would like to hear from candidates who enjoy similar interests as Emma, such as swimming, reading, art and craft and brain teasers! Emma can whizz around in her powered chair and needs full support with transfers. The family home is currently being adapted. After a busy day of learning in school Emma can become tired, so once home some chill time is needed. Although Emma is very articulate, after a long day of learning her Ataxia means it can be difficult for Emma to pronounce words and difficult for her to type, so you will really need to be in tune to Emma’s emotions, body language and facial expressions to understand her needs. You will assist Emma with her homework and transcribe this for her if needed.

Day to day routine and schedules can vary depending on what is planned for the children’s extra-curricular activities. Essentially this role is to provide 1:1 support for Emma, picking her up from school, supporting her with her homework, engaging in fun activities or just enjoying some chill time together if the school day has been tiring.  However, it is important that Mum and Dad have some quality with all the children so this is a role that involves sharing care of each of the children. For example, if Emma and Dad are enjoying time together you will use your initiative and collect the younger boys from school. We are looking for a candidate who can pitch in as and when needed, whether that it with preparing nutritious meals, light household duties, school pick up or running to the local store if the milk is running low – we want family life to run as smoothly as possible.

If you wish to find out more about this wonderful opportunity, please contact Jade at Snap who has met and has the pleasure of working with this mischievous lass and her warm and welcoming family for lots more information.

The ideal candidate with be Ofsted registered of must be willing to become Ofsted registered
