Laura 24, is a bright, engaging and witty young lady who lives at home with her Mum and Dad. Laura has cerebral palsy, autistic traits, she is a wheelchair user and communicates via her ipad. A lover of all things girly, shopping, sailing and walking her dog. Laura is now looking for an additional member for her care team who can provide 1:1 and on occasion 2:1 support at home and out in the community.
In this position you will support Laura with each daily task such as personal care, exploring new interests and hobbies, arranging trips and activities, implementing intensive therapy programmes and liaising with Laura’s multi-disciplinary team. Mum and Dad have been sole carer’s for Laura since she was a baby, so working in partnership with them is essential.
This role will suit a support worker / PA who will enable and motivate Laura; an advocate who is passionate about promoting independence. You will show initiative; Laura is an extremely anxious young lady, and although she can cover this up very well, she is a worrier. You will be able to tune into subtle changes in her behaviour. It is essential to understand what Laura’s triggers are and de-escalate these calmly and confidently.
Laura has recently moved into a fully adapted home, with an annex for her support team. Travel opportunities, on going training and supervision included in this role.
