Part-time day time Support Worker and On-call Night Carer | West Chiltington, RH20

Wage / Salary:  £108.00 - £119.00 (gross) per night, depending on the night. £12.00 -£14.00 per hour day.
Driver required? Essential
Use of a car? On duty, will need own car to travel to family home
Essential Experience: Supporting a client with cerebral palsy and complex medical needs
Start Date: ASAP or date to suit the appropriate candidate.
Days and Hours: We are looking for a candidate who can provide resting night support hours and some daytime/ evening shifts on a fixed rota. Resting nights:  9:30pm – 08:30am, Two week day nights a week. Current nights available: Sunday, Thursday and Friday. One weekday evening once a fortnight: 6:00pm – 10:00pm

Tom, aged 8 years requires a new candidate to join his small care team. He is a loving, sweet and cheeky chap who has cerebral palsy and additional medical needs. We are looking to recruit a calm, engaging and experienced support worker to join Tom’s team. The team work closely with the parents who are instrumental in their son’s care.

The night routine will involve the following tasks: getting Tom ready for bed and setting up his bedroom and sleep system. Settling Tom to sleep and ensuring he is comfortable. You can then go to bed however, you will need to be alert to Tom’s waking during the night via a baby monitor. Tom can have settled nights but often disturbs a couple of times and can take a time to settle. He may need a cuddle or repositioning to help him drift back off into the land of nod. The morning consists of getting Tom ready for school and other duties such as light tidying, washing his equipment e.g. syringes and helping Mum put Tom in the car.

The weekday evening role involves feeding Tom his home prepared diet and medication via his feeding tube and getting him ready for bed.

Additional hours may be available to cover Annual Leave, helping after school and early evening etc.

This job will suit a confident and reliable candidate who has flexibility to fit into the team and support the family with the care hours required and to accompany Tom and his family on holiday. Training will be provided for all aspects of Tom’s care and mandatory health and safety training.
