Up to £14.00 gross per hour!  Part-time, fun, energetic and committed Support Worker to support a charming 8 year old with cerebral palsy after school

Location: Brighton/ Rottingdean
Nearest Train: Brighton
Wage: £12.00 gross per hour weekdays, £14.00 gross per hour weekends
Driver required? Essential
Use of a car? On duty
Essential: Supporting children with cerebral palsy or complex medical needs
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours:  various shift available : Term time: Monday - Friday 5.00 pm -7.30 pm Saturday and Sunday 12 pm - 7.30 pm,  more hours available during school holidays

Mark 8, is a sparky and charming boy. He loves to be kept busy; Mark loves Adventure Parks, library and Farms and likes to occasionally go on a bus. Bouncing on the trampoline and playing on a swing is his most favourite activity! Mark has dystonic cerebral palsy which causes involuntary movements in all four limbs. He can to take food orally but requires support to ensure he doesn’t choke or aspirate. Additional fluids and medications are administered via PEG. Mark is non-verbal, he is using range of devices and aids to communicate. He can express yes and no clearly.

Your role will be to support Mark with his after school routine, providing personal care, assisting with dinner and bath time and organise fun activities and outings at the weekends and in school holidays.  You will implement programmes from a variety of therapists, including physio, speech and occupational in a fun, creative and playful way.   You will be flexible to travel with the family and support Mark whilst on holiday both in the UK and abroad.

This job will suit an energetic, caring and kind support worker with strong communication skills who enjoys working within a family home and providing 1:1 support. You must be confident in manual handling and administering medication. This is a great opportunity to work with this fantastic family and help Mark to reach his full potential.
