Snap have a terrific opportunity for a support worker to work with Thomas aged 13. Thomas is a bright, strong and sociable boy who loves swimming, riding and outdoor activities. Thomas has cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs, he is non-verbal and is tube fed via a PEG (training will be given). Thomas leads conversations via eye pointing and an eye gaze computer system.
Thomas has an active home school programme following a Conductive Education approach.
You will support Thomas under the supervision and guidance of the Conductor Teacher at home (2 days per week) and take and collect him from school (3 days per week). Thomas is doing very well with his communication so we need someone with good patience and focus to help improve his skills.
This role will suit someone who has a calm but also fun approach when supporting Thomas. You should also be sensitive to the privacy needs of the family. This is a fantastic learning opportunity for someone who is motivated to develop their skills and gain further knowledge of all aspects of therapy and teaching as this position comes with excellent in-house training. For more information, please contact Rachael at Snap who has met with Thomas and his lovely family.
Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
