Days & Hours: Monday and Tuesday 10.00pm – 8.00am, Wednesday 4.30pm – 8.00am, Thursday 4.30 – 8.30 pm
Accommodation: Own bedroom and bathroom while working

We are looking for a calm, experienced and confident support worker to assist Archie (12) after school and at night. Archie is a charming boy who enjoys watching music videos on his iPad, jumping on the trampoline, riding bikes and being outside. He has an Acquired Brain Injury and a diagnosis of autism.

Archie has limited verbal communication and uses some Makaton. Although he is usually happy and affectionate, he can present with challenging behaviour and become impulsive (pulling hair or pushing). You’ll need be fit, strong and vigilant to ensure Archie's safety, especially when outside.

The role consists of 3 on-call nights and 2 afterschool shifts. During the night, Archie may wake up and not go back to sleep.  You will be required to stay with him; he is happy to play on his phone and listen to music. In the morning you will support Archie getting ready for school, prepare his breakfast and lunch. You will support Archie during his after-school routine; assisting with personal care, dinner, playing and/or going out for a walk and accessing activities. Archie attends a special needs school which he is taken to and collected from by local authority transport.

This truly rewarding position would suit a confident and calm person with extensive experience with children or young adults with ASD and communication difficulties.
