A fantastic opportunity is now available on a care package in Northwood supporting Sam, an endearing and charming 7 year old. Sam has an acquired brain injury, developmental delay, learning disabilities and epilepsy (controlled through medication), he also has a visual impairment. Sam has limited verbal communication and although he can vocalize a few words, he uses gestures and body language to communicate his needs. Sam enjoys playing with his iPad, toys and loves water play, bubbles and music.
We are recruiting a full-time on-call night carer to assist Sam with his sleep program and morning schedule. Sam requires support and assistance with most daily tasks including all aspects of his personal care routine. Although Sam is mobile he requires supervision when walking as he can be unsteady on his feet, however he has a lift at home to go between floors.
In this role you will tend to all Sam’s care needs including documenting and logging accurate information and monitoring supplies. Each night will be different, some nights Sam will not require intervention however his sleep pattern is unpredictable and he can wake several times, finding it difficult to get back to sleep. We are looking for an experienced night carer who can follow and implement a night routine for Sam.
