Sophie aged 10 enjoys horse riding, playing board games, spending time with her animals and cooking. She lives at home with her mother, father and two brothers aged 7 and 12. Sophie has cerebral palsy which restricts her mobility, communication and cognitive abilities. She is a wheelchair user for most of her indoor and outdoor mobility and uses a hoist for all transfers. Sophie is able to communicate verbally but does have associated learning difficulties. Prior experience of manual handling is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

A key part of your role will involve building a strong relationship with Sophie and developing a sensitive awareness of her mobility, personal care, medical care, communication and cognitive needs and abilities. Sophie requires quite a bit of reassurance so it is important to continue to build upon her self-esteem, confidence and promote her independence wherever possible. There will be agreed goals to work towards and you will play an imperative role in Sophie’s therapeutic programmes.

The family can offer this position as live-in and have lovely accommodation available for the SEN Support which is available full time. This a lovely opportunity to join a welcoming, active and outdoorsy family. To apply please send your CV to Rachael at Snap.
