You’ll be utilizing your autism and behavioural management skills to support these two delightful siblings. Tommy is 8 ½, a prolific reader who loves Godzilla, Ultraman, Anime as well as science, maths and nature. His big sister Edie, 14 ½, is a beautiful young lady who enjoys SIMS4, watching YouTube and clothes shopping – her main motivator! Both children are on the autistic spectrum, Tommy has a diagnosis of autism and Edie, Asperger syndrome. At times the children’s behavior both separately and together can be challenging.

The children have very different needs, triggers and motivations. Whilst your ideas will be very welcomed, it will be important to work together with the children’s parent to ensure consistency and clear boundaries are always in place for both children.

This job will suit someone who is confident, has a positive and understanding outlook; someone who can be calm when difficult behavior presents and use their skills, experience and creativity to meet the needs of both children.

This is a wonderful opportunity to live and work in a stunning part of the world with a delightful family who will support you in your work as well as helping you to enjoy New Zealand. By complete luck, I was in this area of New Zealand and had the pleasure of meeting this lovely family, who were introduced to Snap by a former Snap Nanny. Whangaparaoa is a wonderful area, with glorious beaches and Shakespear national park just a stone’s throw away. Auckland is accessible by car or ferry in under an hour. While Snap won’t be involved with the recruitment (interviewing etc.) I’ll be happy to discuss more aspects about this job with interested applicants.

*Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for a female worker to work with our client.

Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
