About this client/child:
Our client Noah is 10 years old, he loves swimming, watching street performers, arts and crafts and spending time with his family. Noah has a hypoxic brain injury, epilepsy, and complex learning and communication difficulties. Noah is very active; he is mobile and able to communicate his needs and wishes. Noah requires assistance with all daily tasks including personal and self-care needs, therapy input, and self-regulation.
Overview of role:
Noah can experience hours of wakefulness during the night, he requires an experienced Waking Night Carer to help calm and soothe him and settle him back to sleep if he is restless. The Waking Night Carer will monitor and record all activity throughout the night and be alert to any seizures and act accordingly. Noah has a full care plan and checklist in place for his night routine and his SALT has provided Communication Guidance Document. You will be required to assist with the typical bedtime routine, bath, personal care, storytime etc. and assist in the morning getting ready for school, appointments or activities. Noah has a video monitor in his bedroom, which can be watched from the staff room.
Who this job would suit:
An experienced, caring and sensitive Waking Night Carer with previous experience supporting a young client with an ABI. It is essential that you are a confident driver and can drive an adapted, automatic vehicle. Nonsmoker/ vaper also essential
