About this client/child:
Johnny 9, is a charming and friendly boy who loves gaming, swimming, music and books. He also enjoys trips to the park, being outside and riding his bike. He is very communicative and enjoys social interaction. Johnny has Dyskinetic Athetoid Cerebral Palsy and profound deafness, with bilateral cochlear implants. He is mobile and walking, although he cannot walk for long distances without getting tired. Johnny is quite independent but requires assistance with daily tasks and support with accessing community and different activities.

Overview of role:
This role will involve developing a caring relationship with Johnny and his older brother (10), building a programme of activities and learning opportunities in the community and assisting with the after-school routine. £13.00 gross per hour weekdays, and £15.00 gross per hour weekends. The hours required are Mondays 3.00pm to 7.45pm, Tuesday 3.00pm to 6.45pm and 2 evenings on Friday/ Saturday 7.00pm to midnight per month.  There is a potential to build up the hours as you get to know Johnny and his needs will become more defined. Additional hours over school half terms Mondays and Tuesdays (0830- 1300 approx).

Who this job would suit:
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Buddy / Support Worker with SEN experience; someone who is confident, has plenty of common sense and is willing to learn new skills. This position will suit a friendly, caring and kind person who is looking for a flexible and part time position with a view of increasing the hours over time. You will have a can-do attitude, be a creative and sensitive person. with good understanding of SEN and a genuine interest in working with children.
