About this client/child:
Oliver is an active and very bright 15-year-old. He enjoys boxing, playing games on Xbox, socialising with friends. He used to be exceptionally fit, swimming at regional level (the family has a pool and will soon have a gym). Oliver has been traumatised by his parents’ recent divorce which impacted greatly his behaviour and academic achievements, his grades dropped from A’s to D’s within a very short period of time. Oliver has been withdrawn from school and is currently home schooled. He has adopted a very oppositional and defiant behaviour in particular towards his mother. He lives at home with his mum and younger brother, 14, who is spending 3 days per week with their father.
Overview of role:
Your role will be to build a positive rapport with both brothers (although the main focus at the moment is on Oliver), defuse challenging behaviour and act as a mentor and role model for him. You will encourage him to complete his academic work, engage with different activities and promote positive behaviour. Oliver would like to join the Marine Forces and part of your role would be to encourage and help him work towards achieving this. The role can be live-in, or a mix of daily & live-in as required by Oliver’s activities. **Details on hours to be discussed.
