£28,392.00 gross per annum. Fun, proactive and caring Support Worker / PA for James (24)


Location: Holloway, N7
Nearest Train: Holloway
Salary: 28,392.00 gross per annum
Driver required? Essential
Use of a car? On duty
Desired Experience: Physical disability, passion for working with young adults
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Minimum 42 hours per week working on a 2 week shift pattern including alternate weekends

James 24 has quadriplegic cerebral palsy with dystonia and is dependent on others for all his needs. James is a charismatic young man with a great sense of humour. He is curious and intelligent and has achieved both GCSES and A levels. James uses both low tech and computer based communication aids. He is verbal but his speech is usually only understood by the people closest to him.

This role is about supporting James to live a fulfilling life and enabling him to pursue his interests. James has many interests including wildlife and ecology, travel, architecture and design, listening to a wide range of music, visiting art galleries, museums and eating out. The ideal candidate will have an interest in travel, nature and the arts or, if not, an enthusiastic approach to learning about them.

Your role will be to facilitate James's everyday needs, help create structured activities and continue to promote his independence and further development of his communication skills. It is important that the support worker / PA has strong use of their right hand for facilitating certain tasks such as feeding and accessing IT.

This job will suit a motivated and proactive candidate who understands the importance of promoting independence and has a real passion for working 1:1.
