A fantastic opportunity is available to support Georgia, a funny, bright and engaging 8 year old. Georgia has Rett Syndrome, this is a complex disability and as a result Georgia has difficulty physically and with her communication skills. Her fine motors and gross motors skills are affected however she has the ability to walk for short distances with support although trips out and about she will use her wheelchair.

Georgia uses eye gaze technology and a YES / No system to support her communication as she is nonverbal.  It is essential that you are intune* to her needs and can read her body language and facial expressions as she can become frustrated when she is not being understood. Her receptive language is not affected by her condition therefore she is receiving, processing and understanding all the information – it is her output / expressive communication that you need to be intuitive to.

Georgia lives at home with her Mum and twin sister, she attends mainstream school and has a busy budding social life including Brownies, play dates, horse riding and swimming. In this role you will support Georgia with each aspect of daily life such as personal care, assisting at meals times, getting ready for school, school drop off and collection, arranging activities, trips out, play dates and some light household duties. Georgia’s family have always used a therapeutic approach to her care and will continue to so therefore we are looking for a SEND Nanny / Manny with a keen interest in working a similar way and who would like the opportunity to learn new skills.

This position is essentially shared care role, you will work alongside Mum to ensure family life is running as smooth as possible and both girls are well cared for. Mum needs a person by her side who can pitch in as and when needed.

If you wish to be considered for this role and most importantly are extremely passionate about working with children with SEND and you have a positive outlook on life then we would love to hear from you!  Please apply today, interviews are taking place asap with Georgia’s Mum.
