Sophia, 16, is a very happy, vibrant yet peaceful teenager who requires continuous 1:1 support. She lives at home and is home-schooled, with emphasis on developing her communication skills. Sophia has restricted mobility, wears a back brace and foot splints, which need to be fitted with care, and communicates using Makaton and PECS.

The job will involve supporting Sophia with all of her daily needs, including personal care and communication. The LSA/PA will assist with physio exercises, standing, walking and other activities to facilitate her development. These include a daily bike ride, bouncing on her exercise ball, massage, being read to and interacting with others. Sophia is on the GAPS diet to help support her wellbeing. Sophia loves music and this plays a big part in family life and activities.

This position will suit a caring and committed LSA/PA who recognises the importance of developing a meaningful relationship with Sophia. You will have a background in care and an enthusiasm to learn new skills as training is provided by the family. The role would be ideal for an LSA/PA who intends to pursue a career in Special Educational Needs.

Great opportunity to work with a compassionate and dedicated family and small care team and continue to promote Sophia’s independence and progression. Accommodation provided is a double room within the family home.

*Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for a female worker to work with our client.
