James, 10, is a bright and charming young man who attends a mainstream school. James has been diagnosed with autism and requires additional support during the school day.

We are looking for a bright and engaging candidate who will take time to understand James and the difficulties he faces day to day and can implement strategies and techniques to enable him to improve his academic and social skills.

In this role you will support James with activities incorporating literacy and numeracy skills, support the use of ICT, promote the inclusion and acceptance within the classroom and promote positive behaviour. You’ll be confident working in conjunction with the school staff and acting as a first contact between home and teaching staff. You’ll attend regular meetings with the family and provide regular feedback of James’s progress.

This job will suit a candidate who has a student-centred approach, can understand when to offer support and when to take a step back and is experienced assisting with academic skills and behavioral support.
