About this client/child:
Peter is 20 and a physically disabled para-athlete competing in the England team and currently studying at Loughborough University. Peter is recruiting for a Support Worker to join the team and provide round the clock support assisting with all aspects of his daily life. Support will be required at university during term time and at his home near St Neots during the holidays, including support out in the community and at training events/competitions.

Overview of role:
As Peter’s Support Worker, you will promote independence, facilitate and enable Peter to live his life as his wishes; supporting him with therapy/ sports programmes, on-court sport assistance, training, study, socialising on nights out, interpreting, travelling and tending to all his care needs. Whilst on shift you will work, days and sleeping nights. Peter sometimes requires assistance at night so needs to be able to call on his PA if he does.

Who this job would suit:
For this role, you will need excellent communication skills and you must speak English clearly as Peter requires support to communicate if others do not understand him. It would be good to have an interest in sports, be energetic and have the ability to keep up with Peter’s busy lifestyle. You must be a non-smoker, confident driver and swimmer. Our preference would be to have someone who lives locally to Loughborough University so they can provide last-minute cover if required.

Peter is at a very exciting time in his life and sports career. If you would like to join his fantastic team, please apply today. References and enhanced DBS checks will be obtained.
