Title: *Female SEN Nanny

Wage / Salary: £17.00 gross per hour

Essential: 3+ years working with young children, speech delay experience and previous nanny or nursery experience
Desirable: Keen interest in implementing therapies such as SLT, Play therapy or ABA principles.
Start Date: ASAP

Jack aged 2 (nearly 3) is a playful, handsome and incredibly happy little boy. He especially loves music, his toy cars and going for walks outdoors. Jack does not have a formal diagnosis but presents with speech and language difficulties. Although he is very verbal, he is unable to articulate words and has a very short attention span. There are also some possible autistic traits related to his behaviour and social development. In the next couple of months Jack will be undergoing various assessments so the family hope to have more information.

The family are looking for an experienced SEN Nanny to support Jack sole charge from early afternoon, picking him up from Nursery or a morning session and taking him back to the family home. Your afternoons will involve a mix of 1:1 interaction, taking Jack to various appointments and implementing therapies into the home. The key areas to focus on will involve Jack’s speech, social development as well as additional support with potty training. Jack usually has a nap during the afternoon when there will be time for some additional light nanny duties (e.g. Jack’s washing, cooking/ordering food, and tidying up after Jack).

This job will suit someone with excellent experience with working with toddlers who display delayed speech. You should have high energy and be able to create lots of fun whilst keeping Jack appropriately stimulated and engaged. It goes without saying but you must be extremely patient and confident to manage occasional tantrums.

This a great opportunity to support a little boy who is at the beginning of his journey and in turn have a positive impact on his development and meet his, and the wider needs of the family. The family are currently going through a lot of changes so it is important to note that the job could evolve over time.
