About this client/child:
A truly rewarding opportunity supporting George and Amy, 17-year-old twins with complex care and medical needs. The twins are at the heart of a loving and supportive family; Mum, Dad and their younger sister Isla who is 10 years old. The family home is fully adapted, has ceiling track hoists for transfers and they also have a hydrotherapy pool as George, Amy and Isla love to swim! George and Amy have dystonic cerebral palsy, are both wheelchair users and receive their fluids and medication via a PEG. The twins both have a DBS (deep brain stimulator) in place to help with their dystonia. Amy uses a communication book and AAC device to support her communication and George has a cochlear implant and uses some sign language and a communication book to support his.

Overview of role:
You will provide hands-on practical support in all areas of George’s and Amy’s care plan including personal care, implement therapy programmes, facilitate and enable them to explore new interests and access the world around them, participate in activities and continually promote their independence.  The twins are very strong-willed and live life to the full! The rates offered are £14.00 during the week and £16.00 gross per hour during the weekends. George and Amy require additional support during weekends and school holidays, please see available hours below.

Term Time:  Alternate Weekends: Saturday and Sunday: 9.30am – 7.30pm
School holidays: Working an additional minimum 2 days per week: 8.30am – 7.30pm 
We are flexible with start and finish times for the weekend and school holiday shifts

Who this job would suit:
A reliable, proactive and sensitive candidate who is possibly working in an LSA or TA role and is eager to learn or an experienced support worker looking for additional hours. You will need to be a confident driver with your own car as the family live in a remote location.
