About this client/child:
A truly unique and rewarding opportunity supporting George and Amy, 16-year-old twins with complex care and medical needs. The twins are at the heart of a loving and supportive family; Mum, Dad and their younger sister Isla who is 9 years old. The family home is fully adapted, has ceiling track hoists for transfers and they also have a hydrotherapy pool as George, Amy and Isla love to swim!

George and Amy have dystonic cerebral palsy, are both wheelchair users and receive their fluids and medication via a PEG. The twins both have a DBS (deep brain stimulator) in place to help with their dystonia. Amy uses a communication book and AAC device to support her communication and George has a cochlear implant and uses some sign language and a communication book to support his.

Overview of the role:
You will provide hands-on practical support in all areas of George’s and Amy’s care plan including personal care, implement therapy programmes, facilitate and enable them to explore new interests and access the world around them, participate in activities and continually promote their independence.  The twins are very strong-willed and live life to the full!

George and Amy attend boarding school during the week therefore during term time this role will primarily be based around the weekends in term time and full-time during school holidays. There are additional ad hoc hours available during the week assisting Mum to care for Isla and with general admin and nursery duties; this role is all about enabling and supporting a very busy family!

Hours: *Term Time: Friday 4.30pm – 7.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 10.00am – 7.30pm and Monday 6.00am – 10.00am
School Holidays: Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 7.30 pm 10:00 am – 7.30 pm and one day at the weekend

Who this job would suit:
We are looking for a proactive and sensitive person who is a real Jill of all trades and willing to pitch in and as when required to keep family life running as smoothly as possible. A degree of flexibility is required and a willingness to work additional hours in this role as there will be times when George and Amy cannot attend school.

What’s great about this job:
You will know you are making a big difference in this role not only to George and Amy’s life but also their family; the twins are an absolute pleasure to work with and support. You will be part of a wonderful team and will learn lots.

Client/Family met by Snap?
