Snap are looking for a temporary Christmas On-call Night SEN Nanny to support Tom who will be turning 12 in January, alongside his cheeky and active 5 year old brother William.  Tom is very engaged and charming: a sweet boy with a wonderfully silly sense of humour and a passion for fast motor vehicles! Tom has cerebral palsy and continues to make fantastic progress. He is gastrostomy fed and while his verbal communication has improved considerably, he still relies a lot on Makaton – and is an excellent signer.

We are looking for a temporary SEN Nanny to be on call for Tom throughout the night. By the time the Night Nanny arrives, Tom will already be in bed, and generally wakes between 7.00am and 7.30am. You’ll help Tom with any toileting during the night (and occasionally administering pain medication). There is a bedroom across the hall from Tom with an en-suite and a camera/monitor so you can see and hear Tom. The Night Nanny will respond should Tom cry out or ask for help.

In the morning you’ll support Tom with his usual routine, getting him up, brushing teeth and hair and getting dressed etc. He has fluids via his PEG first thing, and then a bolus feed half an hour later. In the morning, Tom often likes going for walks but also likes reading books, playing with cars, or doing some colouring. The family are really keen for the SEN Nanny to talk through his communication wall with him in the morning too.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a family very well known to Snap. We have placed numerous candidates with Tom over the years and to see the progress he continues to make, is just incredible. To be part of Tom’s wonderful journey this festive period, please contact Rachael at Snap who has met with this very welcoming family.

Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
