Title: Temporary Summer Support Worker
Location: Gloucestershire, GL4
Nearest Tube/Station: Gloucester
Wage: Week: £13.00 gross per hour Weekend: £15.00 gross per hour
Driver required? Essential
Use of a car? On Duty
Essential: Experience working with children/adults with special needs and be willing to participate in a variety of outdoor activities.
Desirable: An interest or prior experience carrying out therapy programmes and experience using specialist equipment such as hoists would be useful. Non-smoker and swimmer.
Start Date: End of July 2020
End Date: End of August 2020 (Possibility of further holiday/weekend work if mutually agreed)
Days & Hours: Mixture of weekday and weekend hours available, weekday hours between 9.00 am to 8.00 pm and weekend hours between 9.30 am to 7.30 pm. Family will accept half days so please enquire.
Family/Client Pets: Dog

About this client/child:
Callum aged 10 is a lovely young lad who enjoys being outdoors and spending time on his iPad. Callum has Cerebral Palsy and is a wheelchair user. He requires assistance with all aspects of his personal care needs, transfers, therapy, and social/leisure activities. Callum will require support with his feeding, but he can manage mashed food well. He has a PEG fitted which is generally used for water and medication only. Callum communicates by gesture/signs and also via his electronic communication aid.

Overview of role:
We are looking for a patient, fun and friendly Support Worker to offer an extra pair of hands to Callum’s family during the Summer holidays 2020. You will be assisting with Callum’s care and helping him maximise his full potential. A key part of the role will be to help Callum access the community and support him during fun trips out! There is the potential, by mutual agreement, for the role to include further school holidays and occasional weekends if of interest.

This role will suit someone who is proactive, upbeat and who has an encouraging approach. You should be reliable, a strong communicator and have a good sense of humor. Callum enjoys being out and about so someone who enjoys the outdoors is important.
