Felix aged 17 is a funny and intelligent young man who loves playing the piano, gaming, cycling and attending church youth clubs. He enjoys his own space currently living in an annex attached to the family home. Felix is autistic, but most prominent is his PDA. He has low self-esteem, severe anxiety and needs subtle encouragement. All requests made to Felix must be indirect, to keep demands low. Should there be something that sparks Felix’s anxiety his behavior can switch very quickl and he can become very angry.

Felix needs someone who can support his independent living including taking care of the annex and gentle reminders about personal hygiene. Currently Felix feels insecure and overwhelmed with the demands of school and general pressures for his age.  The family are looking into tutors and will decide in the next few months whether this is a permanent solution and Felix may not return to school.

This job will suit someone who is very emotional intelligent, resilient and sensitive to the needs of others. You must be able to demonstrate clear experience supporting teenagers with similar difficulties and be confident in behavior management. At times Felix will need his own space so you need to be able to asses this and use your own initiative.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to promote Felix’s independence and help in provide tools and techniques in reducing his anxiety and promoting his self-esteem. There are also great training opportunities available from the behavioral therapists. To apply for this role please send me your CV along with a Supporting Statement.
