About this client:
Our client Charbel is 23 year old, he sustained a severe brain injury (ABI) following a road traffic accident 2 years ago. He is currently at a rehabilitation centre, soon to be discharged home to a house he will share with his family. Charbel has made a remarkable recovery thanks to his determination and strength, he has been wholly supported on his truly amazing recovery journey by his very loving and faithful family. Charbel communicates using his letter board, voice and phone. He is completely committed to engaging in his therapy and continues to exceed expectations in relation to his recovery. He is now brushing his teeth without assistance, can help dress himself and is completing standing transfers with some assistance. Charbel is very keen to get back to his academic studies and he is hopeful that with the support of his therapy team he will be able to enroll on a suitable course as and when the time is right.
Charbel is currently reliant on his wheelchair and continues to improve his strength and physical abilities with regular physio and hydrotherapy. He also has Occupational and Speech Therapy. Charbel will require 2:1, 24-hour support in his new home, he does have a PEG but is now mainly eating all of his meals, so it is hoped that this will be removed at some point in the future.
