Ricky, 5, is an active and independent boy and a very talented musician. He has been blind since birth and previously attended a Steiner School, however is now home schooled. We are looking for an SEN home tutor to provide a child-centred education for Ricky, who is a highly autodidactic and holistic learner.

The role will involve maintaining a clear daily routine to enable Ricky’s development and independence. The SEN Tutor will creatively encourage concept and speech development, through sensory stories, songs, physical theatre etc. Ricky likes to learn when moving and responds best when learning is not strictly regulated, so the use of music and auditory symbolic play are essential to help him develop.

This job will suit a patient, empathetic and creative SEN Tutor who has experience of child centred education techniques such as Steiner, Montessori or Pickler. You must be able to play a musical instrument/sing to a high standard (e.g. Grade ) and preferably play the piano to use Ricky’s strength in music across all learning domains. You will ideally have worked with a multidisciplinary team and alongside parents. A love of the outdoors and ability to cycle would be beneficial.

Great opportunity to work with a lovely family and maximise Ricky’s opportunities through a home school approach. If you are interested in  live in position 15 square metre ensuite garden studio provided as well as up to eight weeks holiday per year.
