Ruby aged 8 is extremely creative and thoroughly enjoys all arts and crafts. She has a vivid imagination and loves role playing; as long as she is in charge! Ruby has a 4-year-old brother, Ben who has a cheeky smile and a playful character. Ruby has fairly recently been diagnosed with autism, she also has ADHD, dyspraxia, sensory processing disorder and can present with some challenging behaviours. Ruby finds it very difficult to vocalise her feelings and can become frustrated. With your patience, understanding and skills, you’ll be able to help Ruby build her self-esteem and confidence.
The day begins with the morning routine, enticing Ruby to get out of bed as school can make her feel very anxious. She needs lots of support and prompting with her personal care and generally getting ready for the day. You will take both children to school which is a short car journey from the family home. There is time during the day to plan and organise activities for the afternoon and prepare resources such as visual aids and fun games. This time can also be used for batch cooking, running light errands for the family and household duties related to the children.
This job will suit someone who is warm, compassionate, patient and able to provide a structured and stimulating environment for both children. You don’t necessarily have to have previous nanny experience but having lots of exposure to SEN and in particular to autism is key.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to share their SEN knowledge with the family who are still on a journey of discovery. This is a wonderful warm, fun and down to earth family looking for a dedicated SEN Nanny. They are offering a generous package including a fantastic salary and an occasional early finish on a Friday!
