About this client:
Lucy is 25 years old, and has a demanding job as a journalist. Outside work, Lucy enjoys socialising with her friends at home or at the pub, travel and is very independent. Lucy has cerebral palsy and needs assistance to support her physically. Lucy is verbal, but it can take time to ‘tune into’ her speech. Lucy lives in her own flat with full-time support.
Overview of role:
You’ll support Lucy at home, work and when she is out socially or traveling (Lucy holidays abroad usually twice a year). You’ll help Lucy get to and from work and provide assistance as needed during her working day. This support will include attending work social events with Lucy, so you’ll need to feel confident conversing with a range of professionals. There’s lots of free time when supporting Lucy at work, so you’ll need something to usefully occupy your time, such as studying or perhaps writing. Weekends will be different according to what Lucy has planned or what comes up. This may be going out and about, staying at home, going away for the weekend. You will be Lucy’s arms and legs, doing the things Lucy physically can’t do and this includes domestic tasks, making sure the flat is clean and tidy, washing put on, shopping etc. Lucy needs support to help her to the toilet, sometimes this includes during the night, but often you will have an uninterrupted sleep.
Who this job would suit:
This is a PA / Enabler position for a *female, someone emotionally resilient, supportive, with a good sense of fun. You’ll need to flexible; Lucy wants to live her life just as any 24 year old would, and be spontaneous. You’ll be comfortable to accept Lucy knows her own capabilities and doesn’t need to be advised what might be best for her. She doesn’t need someone to ‘look after her’, but someone who is there when needed, someone who has the sensitivity to know when to give Lucy privacy and space.
What’s great about this job:
Snap has known Lucy for many years and you’ll have the opportunity to work with a great team and support a remarkable young woman live her life to the full.
