Max, 24, is a cracking young lad with a great sense humour and a real zest for life. He is very active playing a variety of sports, including wheelchair football, boccia and archery. Max loves drama and would like to pursue acting career. Max has an Acquired Brain Injury, which affects his short-term memory and he is a wheelchair user.
We are seeing a *Male Buddy who will empower Max and promote his independence. Your role will involve supporting Max at his specially adapted home and out in the community. Although he is incredibly independent and capable, Max needs assistance and prompting with personal care, meal preparation, assistance with his rehabilitation program, as well as someone to drive and accompany him to all his activities and appointments. You must be proactive and confident to implement strategies and stimulating activities into Max’s daily routine; researching new activities and opportunities for him, and foremost always promote independency and self-help skills.
This job will suit a caring, positive and proactive Buddy/ Support Worker who ideally has previous experience working with young adults with an Acquired Brain Injury. You must have excellent communication skills, be able to think on your feet and be a confident swimmer.
