£11.00 gross per hour. SEN Support Worker with good complex medical experience required to join Frankie, 10 and the rest of his team.

Frankie 10 is a lovely little boy with a very gentle presence. He has severe complex medical needs; Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, dystonia, cortical blindness. Frankie has 2 spinal rods. All of his meds and food are given through a gastrostomy tube and he requires suctioning. At current Frankie has two fractured femurs and a dislocated hip.

He lives at home with his mom, dad and has a younger brother age 6 and sister age 2 and two Labrador dogs and a cat. Frankie attends a local special needs school; a driver is essential for this role as Frankie is driven to and from school by his carers. *There will be on average 35 hours a week, to include a mixture of days and nights. Day shifts for school are 7.30 am to 10.00 am & 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm and the night shifts are 10.00 pm to 7.30 am. School holidays are 9.30 am to 7.30 pm.

Frankie has various therapies, making sure these are carried out on a regular basis is essential. There are set times for medication and feeds, so activities are planned around these, but once done he enjoys relaxing in his sensory room. Frankie enjoy various activities in his sensory room and has a variety of toys and equipment to help stimulate him, through sound, touch and smells. He also like hydrotherapy. He loves music, calming sounds and listening to musical instruments like the guitar and piano. Touch is very important for Frankie. He also enjoys being taken out in his local area which is close to the park.

The right person for this job will have the sensibility to know when to step up and step back. Open and honest communication is key.

The job will really suit someone who is self-motivated, a good team player and has a good sense of humour and who is fun and dynamic. Frankie enjoys his time with his siblings so it’s important that the successful candidate is good with other children and interacting.
