Tom, 5, loves music, creative activities, swimming and being outside with his friends and family. Tom has cerebral palsy and needs support with his personal care routine. He is non-verbal and communicates using body language and vocalisations.

This job will involve supporting Tom in all aspects of his personal care, including administering medications. As Tom is not mobile, you will need to be able to use a hoist and preferably be confident taking him swimming, which is one of his favourite activities. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other professionals and implement Tom’s therapy strategies.

This job will suit a caring and confident support worker with a flexible and adaptable approach who can engage with Tom and is able to work in partnership with his family, assisting in meeting Tom’s rehabilitation needs. A non-smoker is essential. You will need to use Eye Gaze with Tom as he builds up his use of this technology (training provided).

This is a great opportunity to work with a young boy, continuing to promoting his independence. Excellent ABR therapy training will be provided by the family, for which you must be willing to travel to Scotland (travel expenses will be paid by the family). There is also the possibility to travel on holiday as part of the care team.

The family can be very flexible with working hours for the right candidate, so if interested please apply stating your availability!
