About this client/child: Freddie, a sweet and gentle 10-year-old, has a deep love for reading, space, nature, Minecraft, vehicles, gadgets, and Lego. Following a road traffic accident in 2021, Freddie experienced a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), resulting in left-sided hemiplegia, significant fatigue, and cognitive challenges with attention and concentration. He also faces some speech and language difficulties and significant anxiety, particularly around school. Freddie is currently being assessed for Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) due to periods of very low food intake. He’s articulate about his feelings and is open about how he’s doing.
Overview of role: We are seeking a compassionate and patient *Female SEN Nanny to provide crucial support for Freddie, helping him thrive while offering his mum some much-needed respite. As Freddie can be quite anxious, the successful candidate will need to be patient, allowing him to build trust during the adjustment period. You’ll play a key role in Freddie’s physical and emotional wellbeing, implementing therapy recommendations in creative, engaging ways. During school holidays and weekends, you’ll have more opportunities for creative activities at home and in the community. Light housekeeping and meal prep may also be required, especially when Freddie is fatigued after school. The offered rate is £20.80 on weekdays and £22.80 Gross Per Hour on weekends. We offer flexibility with days and start times during term time; please let us know your availability.
Who this job would suit: This part-time role is ideal for a student or Teaching Assistant eager to deepen their experience in the SEN field while making a meaningful difference in a child’s life. We’re looking for someone warm, fun, friendly, and approachable.
What’s great about this job: This is a rewarding opportunity where your support and caring nature will have an invaluable impact on Freddie and his mum. The household is relaxed, friendly, and very welcoming. You’ll also have the chance to observe and learn from therapy sessions, such as occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
