The school are looking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced TA to work 1 to 1 with a student with dyslexia to manage her successful transition into Year 7 and beyond. The successful candidate will support the student both within mainstream classes and individually as the student will be following a modified curriculum.
Experience working with students with dyslexia in a secondary setting/curriculum is highly preferable and you will need the skills to encourage independent thinking and learning whilst supporting sensitively the literacy and numeracy skills needed to do so. This student needs positive encouragement and nurturing and you will need to be sensitive as to when to step back and when to give more significant help. *The hours of work are generally from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only, however, you may be required to assist with prep occasionally between 6.30pm and 8.00pm, with time off in lieu.
This position will suit someone who is a positive team player who is used to communicating regularly with staff and parents. You must also be highly organised and patient and be comfortable working with technologies such as iPad and Apps.
