About this client:
Laura 33, is a Cambridge graduate; she is doing a law conversion course and is aiming to become a barrister.  She has a busy work and social life; she is charity trustee, does lots of volunteering, she is involved in several community groups, has an active friendship network, takes part in disability sporting activities and likes to garden. Laura has a complex physical disability, uses a power wheelchair and needs assistance with her daily life.

Overview of role:
Laura doesn’t have a routine life, nor does she want one! You will be supporting Laura to live the life she chooses. Your role will involve direct work with Laura, such as personal care and domestic tasks e.g. cooking, maintaining the home and equipment, and other support necessary to make Laura's life run as smoothly as possible. You will be part of a rolling rota which provides 24 hours support. Shifts run on a 28-day rota: On call for 2 days, working for 3 days, On call for 2 days, 4 days off. On call for 1 day, working for 4 days, 2 days On call, 10 days off. Working days cover 24 hours and include a usually sleeping night. PLEASE NOTE: only one commute a fortnight will usually be required, therefore the client is keen to see applications from potential candidates within a 4 hour travel time from Cambridge


Who this job would suit:
This is an exciting position, no experience in care is required, but you will need to be able to cycle and preferably swim. Driving license desirable, but not essential. You will be reliable, positive, thoughtful candidate. You will be flexible and adaptable; Laura’s life is busy and spontaneous. You must have excellent communication skills, be a team player and be happy to take direction. You’ll have good organizational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative is vital for this position. You will be able to judge when to step in and when to give Laura her privacy.
