Snap are looking for three enthusiastic female* Support Workers to work with the delightful Daniel (11) and Sara (9). Daniel has a laidback character but he is definitely becoming cheekier as he gets holder and Sara is very smiley and described as a ‘wiggly worm’ by her mum. Both children love music and enjoy being sung to. Daniel and Sara have an undiagnosed neurological condition; they have low muscle tone, are tube fed, non-verbal and are visually impaired. Davante has suction needs. They have epilepsy which is well controlled with only occasional absent seizures.
You will work alongside an additional support workers when on shift as the children require two carers at all times. This will enable you to work together on certain activities such as manual handling. After school duties include hoisting from chair onto the mat for a roll around and stretch, preparing blended meals, personal care, organising school bags and light housework associated with the children (such as weekly bed changing, hoovering and equipment care). Due to the time of day the after school shifts starts the role consists of a high percentage of indirect care.
This Support Worker role will suit someone with a passion to make a difference to the children's lives; somebody who will work on strengthening their skills and focusing on their abilities. The person needs to be able to take direction from mum on occasions, but be proactive and able to take the initiative in providing a safe and stimulating environment.
