Sarah (33) and Robert (30) both live at home with their devoted parents. They are both sociable and enjoy being around others. Sarah is especially fond of nursery rhymes, whereas Robert loves trains, buses and trams. Both Sarah and Robert have an inherited condition which presents with profound learning disabilities, cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Robert can vocalise some basic words, but Sarah is non-verbal.
Both Sarah and Robert need full support with all of their care needs and daily living. You will work closely with a second support worker or at times their parents, to provide them with an engaging, calm and happy environment. They both need support and motivation in developing and maintaining their skills. They also need a lot of physical assistance; including with walking and physiotherapy. They both enjoy going out in the community, meeting people and being involved in different activities. Part of your role will also involve supporting the wider needs of the family and mucking in with some housekeeping duties during quieter periods.
This job will suit someone who is incredibly caring and has a willingness to help. You must feel at ease and enjoy interacting with individuals who have a younger level of understanding. You must also be physically strong and confident with the manual handling aspect.
This a great opportunity to become part of a close-knit team and in turn you will be helping Sarah and Robert develop further to reach their full potential. To apply for this role with this lovely family who I have recently met, please send me your CV along with a supporting statement.
