Days & Hours: Monday to Friday 7.00am to 6.00pm
Grace, aged 4 is an active, bright and very determined little girl. She loves swimming, spending time with her friends and Disney Princesses. Grace has recently been diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder. She is hypersensitive to loud noises, and can find big crowds, new transitions and mealtimes difficult. Grace sees both a speech and language and Occupational Therapist weekly and is making positive progress. In addition Grace has allergies to dairy, egg and nuts.
A key part of this role will be to help prepare Grace for school, which she is due to start in September 2020. This is an area of great anxiety for Grace so the SEN Nanny will need to introduce the topic in a very subtle and gentle way. Grace attends nursery in the mornings (8.30am to 12.30pm), and during this time the SEN Nanny will prepare meals, organise Grace’s playroom, arrange play dates and also research various activities they can introduce to Grace. An area of great importance for the family is ensuring Grace gets the right nutrition. She is a very picky eater so the SEN Nanny should be confident in displaying food in a creative way to entice her; for example preparing interesting shaped sandwiches. The SEN Nanny is encouraged to eat with Grace and role model good eating habits.
This role will involve a mix of sole charge and also working closely with mum. You must be able to use your own initiative and equally know when to take a step back and let mum support Grace whilst you support the family with their wider needs. On occasions Grace can display defiant and challenging behaviours so you must be able to put in place firm, consistent boundaries in a caring and kind way.
This job will suit someone who can bring lots of fun and energy to the role. You must have excellent childcare experience and be very confident working with children and have an imaginative and gentle approach. The family like to travel, so are keen to find an SEN Nanny who can accompany them on their holidays, all expenses paid for.
