About this client/child:
Tom is 6 years old and he has cerebral palsy. He loves music, creative activities and spending time with his family and friends. Tom is totally dependent on others to meet all his care needs. He is a wheelchair user and is learning how to use Eye Gaze to support his communication; he is also able to express himself through body language and sounds.
Overview of role:
In this position, you will support Tom will all aspects of his care including, personal care, feeding, administering medication, and following a therapy / rehabilitation programme (ABR therapy). The position involves supporting Tom with all aspects of his care plan and therapy programme and to enable and facilitate him to access activities in the community.
**Day shifts- a minimum of 18 hours although there is highly likely to be more hours available. No particular days are needed and we can shift around other carers’/support workers shifts to fit in. At the moment, the shifts tend to be worked in 4-hour blocks starting at 8.00 am until 8.00 pm. Once shift patterns have been agreed with the whole team, then they are likely to remain fixed- at least until school resumes.
