Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Four days a week, paid an average of 40 hours a week

About this client/child:
Timmy aged 7 can be quite the charmer, he enjoys cars, being read to and has a soft spot for chocolate buttons! His older brother Elliot is a cheeky and adventurous 8-year-old who will definitely keep you on your toes. Timmy has a heart condition called Long QT syndrome. Although this is a lifelong condition, it is under control using beta blockers and a pacemaker so it does not significantly impact him on a daily basis. In addition to this, Timmy has profound bilateral hearing loss but had cochlear implants switched on in July 2015 and can now hear well. Timmy does have a movement disorder, making his mobility and speech severely restricted. He cannot sit unaided, crawl or walk. In terms of speech, he uses a direct access high-tech AAC. Timmy does eat orally and is moving from pureed food to mashed food.  Despite all his difficulties he is very happy boy and continues to make great progress with the help of a large team of doctors, physiotherapists, conductors, speech and language therapists and more.

Overview of role:
During the week, the SEN Nanny will play an active role in all of Timmy’s appointments, attending them with mum.  You really will be mum’s right-hand person! Elliott attends prep school and Timmy is at a school of Conductive Education. Occasionally you would care for Elliott and Thomas together but most of the time mum will be there to help. Part of your role will involve nursery duties relating to the boys and batch cooking. You will be paid a weekly average of 40 hours a week over four days (flexibility on what days). The core hours are: 2.00pm to 7.00pm. Flexibility will be required to cover earlier starts, evening babysitting and occasional weekends as mutually agreed. The family are offering £15.00 to £18.00 gross per hour depending on experience. An automatic car will be available for you to use when on duty.

Who this job would suit:
The right person will have a warm and caring nature, a confident demeanour, natural affinity working with young children and a sense of playfulness. You must be confident working with a child with movement difficulties and ideally an interest in therapy. You also need to be comfortable working alongside mum at times. In usual circumstances the family enjoy going on holiday together so would be looking for their nanny to accompany them in the future.

What’s great about this job:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident and warm nanny to come and work within a loving family home. You will have the chance to get involved in Timmy’s online NAPA physio session and develop your skills further.
