Days & Hours: Monday to Friday 3.00pm to 7.00pm (Term Time only). Possibility of additional hours in the school holidays and babysitting if mutually agreed.

About this client/child:
Aiden (14) and Tom (10) are complete opposites with very different personalities and interests. Aiden loves football, swimming, basketball and playing on his tablet. Whereas Tom enjoys cycling, is very inquisitive and loves anything technical. He is currently learning how to play the violin. Both Aiden and Tom have an autism diagnosis, but Aiden presents with more complex needs, including his behaviour. When Aiden displays anxious behaviour, his younger and more placid brother, can become scared. A key focus will be addressing and working on Aiden’s behaviour as this has a huge knock-on effect on family life.
Overview of role:
We are looking for a positive male role model who is able to support both Aiden and Tom with their after school routines, help them access activities and play a big part in supporting their life skills, personal hygiene, and promoting their overall independence. Aiden is dropped off by a taxi from school but you will be responsible for picking Tom up. The activities arranged will be largely depending on Aiden’s mood as he can come home from school very tired and agitated. During lockdown Aiden has felt quite lonely and has become more withdrawn so we are looking for someone who can assess situations effectively and make the appropriate adjustments.
Aiden is going through a difficult period which was largely triggered by bullying he experienced when he transitioned to secondary school. He is very self-aware and dwells on what has happened which causes high anxiety and often aggressive behaviour. A large part of your role will be helping Aiden with his emotions and putting in place strategies for when these feelings arise as well as reassuring Tom and making sure he gets enough attention too.
Who this job would suit:
The ideal Support Worker will be sporty, upbeat, caring and have a nurturing attitude. You should be well presented and able to explain situations to Aiden and Tom in a simplified manner whilst providing them with consistency and supporting mum with ‘parenting’ back up when required.
