Essential: Supporting a client with complex medical needs, waking nights experience
Start Date: ASAP 
Days & Hours:3 nights per week, flexible nights for the right candidate10.00pm – 7.30am
Family/ Clients Pets: Friendly dog and a cat

 

About this client/child:
Alexandra is a gorgeous young lady who recently celebrated her sixteenth birthday. She is very girly, with great sense of humour and has the most amazing long hair! Alexandra has cerebral palsy, sight impairment and is dependent on others with all her needs. Alexandra’s feeds, water and medication are administered via a gastrostomy tube.  She is non-verbal however she can express likes and dislikes through facial expressions and head movements.  Alexandra lives with her mum, older brother and her pets in a house which has been adapted to suit her needs. 


Overview of role:
Your role will be to support Alexandra during the nights, ensure she is always comfortable, and all her needs are met. She will require personal care, repositioning, feeds, and medication administration. If unwell, Alexandra may need suctioning or oxygen therapy. You will keep Alexandra’s equipment and room clean and ensure her laundry is done. During the night you can use a carer’s lounge which is adjacent to Alexandra’s room. You will always inform Alexandra about any tasks you are about to carry out and treat her with dignity and respect. She is a lovely young lady and there is no doubt you will enjoy supporting her.

This is a great opportunity to be working in a beautifully adapted house supported by friendly family and team members. Two of Alexandra’s support workers have been working with her for 10 years. Complex care training will be provided – suctioning, Bipap and any other training needed to ensure the best standard of care.
